A day in the role

Each morning, you review incoming work orders, huddle with your mechanics and technicians, and map out the day. You set priorities, assign tasks, and provide hands-on technical guidance so the team is clear on what success looks like.

• Direct daily work assignments and offer on-the-spot technical instruction to mechanics and technicians.
• Oversee scheduling, coordinate coverage, and handle performance evaluations.
• Build capability through training and skill development plans.
• Champion safety practices and ensure adherence to OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE policies.

• Own day-to-day shop flow, from work order prioritization through completion and closeout.
• Strengthen and enforce a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program that reduces downtime and prolongs equipment life.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and direct repairs for processing equipment and facility systems across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic disciplines.

• Monitor maintenance spending and keep the department within budget.
• Track spare parts, manage suppliers and contractors, and negotiate pricing for materials, services, and repairs.
• Maintain logs and KPIs on equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and repair turnaround times.
