Chief Philanthropy Officer

The client seeks a visionary, strategic, results-driven fundraising leader to serve as Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO). Reporting to the CEO and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the CPO will lead and inspire a Development team and help position the organization as a leading force in addressing homelessness. The role will oversee fundraising operations and stewardship to generate private philanthropic support and support sustainable long-term growth. The CPO will oversee major gifts, corporate partnerships, annual giving, direct response, grants, special events, and volunteer engagement, while coordinating and stewarding public funding. Responsibilities include designing and implementing a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising strategy; establishing and managing revenue goals; monitoring performance and adapting approaches to optimize outcomes. The CPO will personally cultivate and steward top donors and prospects, serve as lead strategist and solicitor for major opportunities, and advance donor communications, stewardship, and engagement to strengthen loyalty and lifetime value. In addition to fundraising leadership, the CPO will provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on revenue strategy and philanthropic priorities, aligned with long-term planning and cross-functional program goals. The role includes monitoring philanthropic trends and donor landscape shifts to inform strategy and mitigate risks, building relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, board members, volunteers, and community stakeholders, and partnering with relevant governance groups to deepen engagement and steward institutional relationships. The CPO will lead and develop the Development team, build Development Operations infrastructure to improve data visibility and operational excellence, and provide strategic oversight of development budgeting and revenue forecasting supported by data and analytics, while upholding fundraising ethics, donor confidentiality, and compliance.
