Sleep Technician

The Sleep Technician is responsible for setting up new patients with appropriate services per physician requests. The position involves instructing, following up with, and continuously monitoring patients using respiratory equipment. The technician will also fit patients with the most comfortable and effective style of mask while maintaining accurate and detailed documentation.

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.

• Experienced, non-registered candidates will also be considered.

• Good organizational skills.

• Responsible and cooperative attitude.

• Clean and neat personal appearance.

• Strong verbal communication and listening skills.

• Product knowledge.

• Excellent attendance and dependability.

• Experience setting up ResMed and Respironics respiratory devices, including:

  • CPAP

  • BiPAP

  • Non-Invasive Ventilators

• Evaluate the needs of patients scheduled for Oxygen Therapy, PAP devices, Non-Invasive Ventilators, Cough Assist, and Vest Therapy.

• Instruct patients on the proper use and care of equipment according to written policies and procedures.

• Demonstrate assembly, maintenance, and safe usage of all equipment.

• Explain insurance requirements for compliance and ongoing medical necessity.

• Educate patients on sleep-study diagnoses and findings.

• Educate patients on insurance fee schedules, deductibles, and co-payments.

• Communicate with patients, family members, and caregivers.

• Communicate with treating physicians regarding mutual patients.

• Continuously monitor patient usage and follow up with patients.

• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all patient contact, whether in person or by phone.

• Continuously update medical equipment records and document changes.

• Review patient accounts to ensure all required documents are on file before providing services.

• Participate in an on-call rotation.

• Complete all assessments and supporting documentation in a timely manner.

• Manage daily tasks, voicemails, and emails.

• Track and maintain follow-up requirements for preventative maintenance and home visits.

Chicago metropolitan area and surrounding suburbs.

• Paid time off

• Must be able to drive between patient homes. A company vehicle will be provided.

• Associate degree preferred.

• 1 year of Sleep Technician experience preferred.

• Spanish preferred.

• BLS Certification preferred.

• On the road.
