Nurse Practitioner

A Nurse Practitioner provides patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; independently participates in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of authority granted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and following the AHL protocols and standards. Under the direction of the VP of Medical Affairs and VP of Operations , the Nurse Practitioner assumes the responsibility of routine exams. Utilizes skills in providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems along with providing care focused on health risk factor reduction. Ensures efficient and effective patient care through collaborative planning and problem solving with center staff. Minimum Qualifications Education Must possess a Master’s degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university. Must possess a certification by a nationally recognized certifying body. Current CPR certification Experience At least one (1) year of experience in advanced practice nursing. Knowledge of scope of practice. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop and implement a care plan. Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously. Communicates with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form. Provides safe and effective nursing care. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions. Patient Relations Achieves customer/patient satisfaction by greeting patients and proactively attending to their needs. Responds to patient requests in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at work and off duty. Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty. Assessment Performs medical examinations and evaluations and diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultations, and health education relevant to the patient’s care (age specific). Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Recognizes patient abnormalities, urgent needs, and emergencies and seeks physician assistance. Treatment / Care Implements nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures adapting techniques to meet individual patient needs. Knowledgeable about standard practice and procedures that monitor, prevent and control infection in the clinic setting. Instructs patients on care and techniques and provides information in compliance with treatment plans in cluding basic principles of healthy lifestyle and health risk reduction. Plans and provides routine immunizations. Acts as an advocate in providing safe delivery of care at all times. Documents patient care, changes in symptoms and reactions and documentations the action in response to those changes. Teaches patients/families all new procedures and medications.
