Senior Software Engineer

Overview As a Senior Software Engineer you will work with a team of full-stack developers that work on all server-side aspects of smart home security. Our mandate is broad and includes processing security events, provisioning equipment, monitoring station signaling, testing automation and integrating a wide and diverse set of devices with the Alarm.com connected ecosystem. Our software development includes backend services, websites, and database design that make up our whole ecosystem. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunities to work across a variety of technical areas. Typical projects involve diverse technologies and require close collaboration with device engineers, business partners, and other engineering teams. Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to self-learn are must-have attributes. Candidate must be able to communicate well within a team and work independently on self-directed tasks. What Can You Do for Alarm.com? Develop full stack software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies. Participate in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements development to deployment, with cross-team collaboration. Engage in researching, evaluating, and applying new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging goals. Exercise good judgment: know when to move quickly and when to build robust solutions. Bring your ideas: collaborate on product development, not just build to a spec. Other duties as assigned. What You Need We are seeking someone who has: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience 5+ years of professional software development experience Experience leading and mentoring other engineers Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus Experience with database design and development Nice to Have (but not required) Experience with or understanding of firmware and electrical engineering Experience with high-availability, high-throughput services Experience with external facing APIs and/or third-party platform integrations Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka) Experience with JavaScript development using an established JS framework, such as Ember Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.
