About This RoleAs a Buyer at Biogen, you will play a crucial role in our cross-functional team, ensuring that GMP/raw materials are procured efficiently and in compliance with established policies, strategies, and procedures. You will be responsible for maximizing returns on external spend while facilitating on-time and compliant procurement of goods and services necessary for manufacturing production campaigns. Your focus will be on minimizing excess and obsolete inventory (E&O) and maintaining cost-containment strategies. In this individual contributor position, you will work closely with various departments to ensure seamless procurement operations, contributing significantly to Biogen's manufacturing success and financial objectives.What You'll DoEnsure all procurement transactions undergo proper due diligence review and documentation before conversion into a purchase order.Responsible for interfacing with Inventory Planning group to execute a purchasing strategy that is intended to ensure 100% compliance with financial objectives and site manufacturing goals.Collaborate with and engage internal stakeholders, including Quality, Supply Chain, Materials Science, and other cross-functional teams.Interact with suppliers on the communication of purchase orders, status, confirmation and delivery.Work to resolve any supplier issues and escalate as needed. Participate in meetings to review and resolve supplier delays/issues.Ensure adherence to supply agreement conditionsFacilitate information exchange with suppliers concerning lead times, quantity discounts, and vendor-specific issues impacting procurement timelines.Who You AreYou are an experienced procurement professional, ideally with purchasing experience in a GMP-regulated environment. Experience purchasing raw materials, such as chemicals, filters, consumables, or related manufacturing materials, is preferred. You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts and can work independently as well as part of a team.Required Skills:Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience1-3 years of related purchasing experienceProficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Outlook.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Workable knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle).Ability to run reports and update metrics as needed.Excellent analytical skills and ability to present data logically and understandably to internal and external audiences.Preferred Skills:Experience in the pharma/biotech industry or GMP environment.CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Chain) certification.Global Business ServicesThe Global Business Services (GBS) team is an organization established to transform Biogen’s business processes, a platform to scale global operations, fuel commercial growth and the innovation pipeline.
