Central Utility Plant Operator

Central Utility Plant Operator Operate, repair/assist, and perform preventive maintenance on all physical plant main and auxiliary equipment, including HVAC equipment, air compressors, chillers, AHUs, pumps, exhaust systems, and life safety systems in a mixed-use corporate environment. Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities to meet departmental goals efficiently. Provide support to team members in daily operations. Work 12‑hour shifts covering day and night periods. Responsibilities Apply knowledge and experience in day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of physical plant equipment. Take charge of a shift and make operating decisions without supervision. Follow strict operating procedures and the two‑man safety verification process. Conduct designated operator rounds, document equipment conditions, and report non‑standard conditions. Monitor manufacturing and building systems and notify indicated stakeholders when systems are not operating normally. Perform advanced preventive maintenance on selected equipment and contribute to root‑cause analysis of troubled equipment. Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and other equipment to perform repairs and preventive maintenance. Follow emailed, written, and verbal instructions for all maintenance duties. Work a flexible schedule to cover a 24/7 operation (12‑hour shifts, holidays, weekends) and be available for overtime as needed. Qualifications High school graduate, GED, or equivalent experience. Minimum three (3) years experience as a building operator. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, math ability, and positive attitude. Proficient with computers, automated controls, and associated operating systems. Valid state driver’s license. Pass a criminal background check, physical exam, and drug screen. Capable of ascending/descending ladders and stairs, and lifting up to 25 lbs unassisted. Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, including days and nights, holidays, weekends, and adjusted shifts. Competitive pay ranges from $28.90 to $34.00 per hour, depending on location, market pay, and qualifications. The company will not pay less than minimum wage.
