Role Overview


The IT Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering medium to large-scale enterprise IT initiatives. This role partners closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with audit, SOX, and operational controls. The position operates under the general direction of the Director of Applications and owns delivery across assigned application areas.

Key Responsibilities


Project & Delivery Management

• Lead and manage medium to large-scale, enterprise-wide IT projects from initiation through closure
• Mobilize cross-functional resources and coordinate activities across multiple IT and business teams
• Define project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, and success criteria
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and release calendars
• Establish project governance, controls, release guidelines, and inventory management

Monitoring, Reporting & Governance

• Track project performance against scope, schedule, cost, and quality metrics
• Publish regular project status reports, dashboards, and KPI metrics
• Facilitate periodic project reviews and executive-level status meetings
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements, SOX controls, and internal operational standards

Risk & Issue Management

• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and dependencies
• Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies
• Maintain issue and risk logs and proactively drive resolution
• Support escalation management and issue resolution across teams

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, application teams, and technical functions
• Foster strong working relationships and clear communication across all project participants
• Assist with the selection and adoption of project methodologies and documentation standards
• Support teams operating under Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in Information Technology and/or Project Management environments
• Strong hands-on experience managing multiple concurrent IT projects
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
• Proficiency with project management tools and reporting techniques
• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to travel up to 20% (car or air) to support business units

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
• Experience managing applications related to transportation and logistics
• Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps for managing user stories, backlogs, and tasks
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and analysis
• Familiarity with logistics platforms and tools such as Descartes
• Experience within the Hazardous Waste (HAZ Waste) industry or regulated environments
