Technical Support Engineer

Compensation: $50–$55 per hour (based on experience) Tier 2 Systems & Network Engineer (MSP) Location: In-Person Company: Shield Logic MSSP Employment Type: Full-Time About Us Shield Logic MSSP is a growing Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) supporting small and mid‑sized businesses throughout Southern California. We provide proactive IT management, cybersecurity services, cloud solutions, backup and disaster recovery, and strategic technology consulting. Position Overview As a Tier 2 Systems & Network Engineer, you will work closely with our senior engineering team to support and maintain client environments. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and hands‑on experience with Microsoft, networking, security, virtualization, and business continuity technologies. You will regularly work within our technology stack, including: ConnectWise Manage (PSA) ConnectWise Automate (RMM) IT Glue Documentation Platform Microsoft 365 Fortinet Security Solutions Ubiquiti UniFi Datto BCDR Acronis Cyber Protect VMware and Hyper‑V The ideal candidate is customer‑focused, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Responsibilities Manage and support Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, and 2022) Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD) Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware and/or Hyper‑V environments Configure and support Datto BCDR and Acronis Cyber Protect backup and disaster recovery solutions Manage and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, switching, and network infrastructure Support Ubiquiti UniFi wireless and switching environments Monitor and respond to alerts generated through ConnectWise Automate and security monitoring platforms Create, manage, and resolve service tickets within ConnectWise Manage Maintain accurate client documentation, passwords, procedures, and network information within IT Glue Troubleshoot system, network, cloud, and connectivity issues remotely and onsite Participate in client projects including migrations, upgrades, server deployments, Microsoft 365 migrations, and infrastructure refreshes Escalate and resolve complex technical issues while documenting solutions and procedures Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong client relationships Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in an MSP, IT consulting, or managed services environment Strong experience with: Windows Server administration Active Directory DNS and DHCP Microsoft 365 administration Network troubleshooting Experience configuring and supporting firewalls and VPN connectivity Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless networking Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Datto, Acronis, or Veeam Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service and client‑facing abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with: ConnectWise Manage (PSA) ConnectWise Automate (RMM) IT Glue Fortinet Firewalls and Security Solutions Ubiquiti UniFi Microsoft Intune Entra ID (Azure AD) Cloud migrations and Microsoft 365 deployments PowerShell scripting and automation VMware and Hyper-V virtualization Industry certifications such as: CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Microsoft Certifications Fortinet NSE/FCP Certifications VMware Certifications Benefits Health Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off Referral Program Tuition Reimbursement Ongoing Training and Professional Development Career Growth Opportunities Education Associate Degree or higher preferred Equivalent professional experience will be considered Experience Requirements VMware or Hyper‑V: 4+ years preferred Windows Server Administration: 4+ years required Microsoft 365 Administration: 3+ years required Fortinet Firewalls & Network Infrastructure: 4+ years preferred Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and File Services: 4+ years preferred ConnectWise Manage and/or ConnectWise Automate experience preferred Why Join Shield Logic At Shield Logic, you'll work alongside experienced engineers supporting diverse client environments while expanding your expertise in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, networking, business continuity, and managed services.
