JobOpportunity: ASL Paraprofessional (Early Childhood)

Location: Near Springfield, MO (65804)

Position Type: Full-Time (~37 hours/week, schoolcalendar)

Department: Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)/ Preschool

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated ASL Paraprofessional towork one-on-one with a vibrant 4-year-old preschool student with a hearingimpairment. The student utilizes both spoken language and ASL . Yourprimary focus will be bridging communication gaps and facilitating languagedevelopment in an inclusive preschool setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Language Facilitation: Provide 1:1 support, seamlessly shifting between spoken English and ASL.
• Classroom Integration: Help the student engage with peers, participate in activities, and navigate daily routines.
• IEP Support: Partner with the ECSE classroom teacher to implement IEP goals and adapt activities.
• Collaboration: Work with special education teams, speech-language pathologists, and parents to track progress.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• ASL Fluency: High proficiency in American Sign Language to ensure effective communication.
• Early Childhood Experience: Experience working with children ages 3–5.

Preferred:

• Background as a Special Education Paraprofessional, Teacher Assistant, or DHH aide.
• Knowledge of early language acquisition and hearing impairments.
• Associate degree, Deaf Studies coursework, or paraeducator certification.
