Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Therapy Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: Part-Time Shift: Flexible Hours per Shift: 22.5 Experience: School-based occupational therapy experience preferred License: Current Occupational Therapy License in good standing Certifications: Registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy preferred Must-Have: Master's Degree or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited occupational therapy program Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, assessments, and intervention methodologies Description: The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides evaluation, intervention, consultation, and support services to students whose physical, sensory, motor, self-help, or functional performance impacts their ability to access and benefit from their educational program. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student independence, participation, and success within the school environment. The Occupational Therapist supports the mission by ensuring students receive high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services that promote access to learning, foster independence, and support educational achievement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations for students referred through the special education process. Assess fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-help, adaptive, and functional skills that impact educational performance. Review educational records, classroom performance, medical information, and developmental histories. Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports and recommendations. Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and related services. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Ensure services are delivered in compliance with relevant educational requirements. Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services in individual, small-group, and classroom settings. Develop interventions that address fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, handwriting skills, sensory processing needs, self-care, and activities of daily living. Implement evidence-based therapy practices designed to improve educational access and participation. Maintain accurate service logs, treatment notes, and progress documentation. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals. Provide recommendations regarding accommodations, adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and sensory supports. Train school personnel and families regarding occupational therapy strategies and student needs. Support the implementation of interventions across educational environments. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of relevant educational service delivery models. Ability to evaluate student needs and develop individualized intervention plans. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent collaboration and consultation abilities. Strong organizational and case-management skills. Ability to manage multiple evaluations and therapy schedules. Commitment to educational equity and student-centered practices. Physical Requirements: Ability to provide services within classroom, therapy, and school-based settings. Ability to lift, position, transfer, and assist students when appropriate and within professional guidelines. Ability to utilize adaptive equipment and therapy materials. Ability to travel between campuses within assigned regions when necessary.
