DEQ touches the lives of all North Carolinians in many ways to enhance and ensure our quality of life.**Description of Work**This Shellfish Rehabilitation Science Lead provides biological oversight for shellfish rehabilitation programs under the Habitat and Enhancement Section. Duties include supervisory oversight of cultch planting and oyster sanctuary program staff, as well as all data collection for both of those programs. This position will serve as the section’s primary point of contact and dedicated member on all shellfish fishery committees, work groups, and other management initiatives. This position will fill the role as subject matter expert for DMF on all shellfish rehabilitation assessments and will coordinate data collection across multiple field offices. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee all aspects of data collection for two shellfish rehabilitation initiatives • Supervise two biologists and three field technicians • Serve as primary point of contact and subject matter expert on shellfish rehabilitation assessments • Coordinate field data collection across multiple field offices • Collaborate with internal and external bodies to advance the Division’s shellfish rehabilitation efforts**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences**Recruitment Range - $63,927 - $63,927*Important: This posting closes at 11:59:59 PM the night BEFORE the End Date above.***The Division of Marine Fisheries**The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the state’s marine and estuarine resources.
