Programming & Youth Engagement Coordinator Salary Range: $41,401.88 - $84,437.34 The Early Prevention and Intervention Youth and Internship Program (EPI) provides support and structure for youth working to fulfill their community service requirements for school or for minor criminal offenses through this program. The Programming and Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for directly overseeing the EPI Program and ensuring and promoting to its participants positive involvement in the community, leadership development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles. In addition to youth intervention services, this position supports the planning, oversight, and coordination of youth sports and recreational programming and assists with adult sports league planning and collaboration with contracted service providers, ensuring alignment with departmental goals, safety standards, and community needs. Essential Examples Of Duties Collaborates with the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, park staff, EPI interns, recreation staff, contractors, and community partners to develop, implement, and advance program goals, policies, and service delivery strategies. Plans, coordinates, and oversees EPI programming, including youth intervention services, educational activities, community service assignments, youth sports and recreational programming, and related schedules and calendars. Assists with the planning and coordination of adult sports leagues, including collaboration with contracted service providers, volunteers, officials, and partner organizations to ensure program quality, safety, and compliance with City standards. Assists with the planning and implementation of youth sports leagues and recreational programming, including collaboration with contracted service providers to ensure program quality, safety, and compliance with City standards. Recruits, trains, and supervises EPI mentors, interns, volunteers, and assists with the coordination of volunteer coaches or recreational facilitators as needed. Conducts intake, assessment, case management, and ongoing participant monitoring; maintains communication with youth, parents/guardians, schools, Juvenile Probation Officers, and justice system partners; and provides individualized support, referrals, and progress updates. Facilitates accountability processes, maintains accurate case files and program records, and prepares required statistics, evaluations, reports, and documentation for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Coordinates grant-related activities and events, including research, application support, fund management, and compliance in collaboration with program leadership. Develops and maintains partnerships with nonprofit agencies, social service providers, schools, and recreational or sports organizations to expand programming opportunities and community impact. Attends required meetings, trainings, and events, including after-hours, weekends, and sporting or community activities; performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of adolescent development, restorative justice principles, youth intervention strategies, and the role of educational, recreational, and sports-based programming in positive youth development. Knowledge of recreation and sports programming fundamentals, including scheduling, league operations, volunteer coordination, and collaboration with contractors or service providers. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with City departments, schools, juvenile justice partners, nonprofit organizations, contractors, and community stakeholders. Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, prepare reports, conduct training, and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements Must have ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, stand, hear, hands to finger dexterity, handle, feel or operate objects, read and write English. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment; such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machines. Work is performed indoors within a quiet to moderately noisy environment. Must be able to lift, carry and or push articles weighing up to 20 lbs. Minimum Training And Experience Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Early Childhood Education and Development, and/or any other related field, plus 1,950 hours of paid experience in youth services; OR Ninety (90) semester credit hours with a major in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Early Childhood Education and Development, and/or any other related field, plus 4,875 hours of paid experience in youth services; OR Associate's Degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Early Childhood Education and Development, and/or any other related field, plus 7,800 hours of paid experience in youth services; OR Seven (7) years of paid experience in youth services at a minimum of thirty-seven and one half (37.5) hours per week, which is 13,650 paid hours; AND Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required.
