Pastry Cook

Job Summary:The Pastry Cook’s responsibilities are to plan, set up and prepare quality products in all areas of the Pastry department to include, but not limited to pastries, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, amenities, displays/centerpieces and special request items, in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications.Essential Job Functions; include but not limited to:Understand and maintain all standard pastry recipesEnsure all food supplies necessary for service are in appropriate supply on a timely basisResponsible for production of sweet items, pastries, cakes, fruit compotes, breads, chocolates, etc. for all outlets as well as banquets and amenitiesKeep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to Health Department standards at all time.Assists in producing and plating pastries and dessertsInspects orders to ensure high quality and presentationWork well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for pastry needsPrioritize, organize, delegate work and follow throughProduce creative and artistic food workPerform job functions with minimal supervisionWork cohesively with entire culinary staff as part of a teamMaintain food preparation handling and correct storage standardsSupport procedures for food & beverage portion and waste controlsFollows proper handling and right temperature of all food productsQualifications:Demonstrate adequate pastry skills and operationMust be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidaysMust be able to perform in fast paced environmentKnowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory controlAbility to monitor and/or maintain quality control standardsAbility to prepare and bake a variety of pastries, rolls and/or other baked goodsInterpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral formAbility to receive, stock, and/or deliver goodsKnowledge of maintenance and care of culinary facilities, equipment, supplies, and materialsKnowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standardsPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. In some instances, the entire shiftIntermittent periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerAble to lift at least but not limited to 50 pounds and if more must be with assistanceRead and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print)Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects)Ability to move quickly turning from left to right or right to leftReach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stoopingAbility to be mobile in walk-in refrigerator and freezer with temperatures ranging from 40° F to -10° FEducation and Required Experience:High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Culinary certification preferredMinimum 2 years prior experience as a Pastry Cook requiredThe LEV Restaurant Group was founded in 2002 as a vehicle to inspire, create, develop and operate world class experiences for food & beverage concepts in the Restaurant Industry.
