Senior Manager Manufacturing Systems Engineering - Automation (Multiple Positions)

Amgen seeks a Senior Manager for Manufacturing Systems Engineering to lead automation engineering teams at its North Carolina facility. The role involves technical oversight of building automation, programmable logic controllers, and process control systems supporting drug substance manufacturing. The manager will drive team development, ensure performance metrics are met, and apply corporate automation standards across operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation engineering team and serve as primary contact for manufacturing site automation functions
- Define and deliver automation and process control strategy for drug substance manufacturing
- Provide 24/7 operational support, mentoring, and staff development to engineering team
- Manage capital projects, plant improvements, and network-level initiatives with cross-functional teams
- Ensure regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and cybersecurity standards across automation systems
Requirements
- Leadership experience managing automation engineers and technical teams
- Expertise with Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens Desigo CC, and Emerson DeltaV systems
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical drug substance manufacturing operations
- Experience with building automation systems, process control systems, and industry 4.0
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, validation, and audit requirements
- Budget management and financial accountability experience
