VP Strategy

Position Overview The Vice President, Strategy reports to the SVP, Strategy and is responsible for supporting the Executive Leadership Team’s (ELT) strategic priorities that drive Burlington’s growth initiatives and business transformation. The direction and priorities are set by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Merchandising Officer and Chief Operating Officer with input from and consultation with the ELT. In supporting these initiatives across Burlington’s business units, the Strategy team provides internal consulting resources and ensures each BU’s initiatives align with the overall growth agenda. Day in the Life Working in conjunction with the Senior Vice President and other key senior executives to drive key analysis supporting strategy development at the corporate and business unit level. Design, develop, and execute whitespace growth opportunities consistent with the Company’s goals. Communicate strategy to key internal and external partners. Partner with business leaders and the ELT to drive major growth and value‑creation initiatives, managing and facilitating cross‑functional programs. Drive meaningful decisions and impactful business outcomes, identify and clear roadblocks, and monitor progress of the broad‑based growth strategy agenda. Ensure functional alignment on short, mid, and long‑term goals. Drive competitive and consumer insights to influence overall corporate strategy. Analyze consumer research to identify customer strategy opportunities for the company and for individual businesses. Provide ad hoc business and competitive intelligence and insights for key senior executives, including new store performance, competitive information, and mergers & acquisitions impacts. Responsibilities Lead cross‑functional initiatives that support the ELT in making critical business decisions. Drive growth, profitability, and business transformation across all Burlington business units. Analyze market, customer, and competitive trends and translate insights into actionable strategies. Develop actionable recommendations that align with the company’s overall growth agenda. Create and present high‑level insights and recommendations to senior leaders. Mentor and manage a team of strategy consultants and insights professionals. Qualifications Top‑tier MBA or advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) preferred. 6+ years of experience in management consulting or comparable corporate strategy roles. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and conceptual skills with proven creative and rigorous financial analysis. Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior‑level audiences. Experience framing ambiguous, complex issues and articulating implications. Ability to collaborate with senior executives and influence change across reporting relationships. Strong sense of accountability, passion for driving projects to completion, and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Passion for retail and off‑price experience preferred.
