The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of customer vehicles. Primary responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance—such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake servicing—as well as utilizing advanced computerized diagnostic equipment and mechanical tools to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical system issues.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic & Repair Operations

• System Diagnostics: Utilize computerized diagnostic scanners, specialized equipment, and manual inspection techniques to accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
• Technical Planning: Interpret technical service manuals, wiring diagrams, diagnostic charts, and manufacturer specifications to plan and carry out effective repair procedures.
• Component Replacement: Repair or replace worn, defective, or damaged parts—including brake assemblies, wheel bearings, sensors, wiring, and associated automotive components.
• Advanced Mechanical Repairs: Execute complex automotive procedures, including complete engine overhauls, major transmission/drivetrain repairs, and advanced brake system overhauls.

Preventive Maintenance & Inspection

• Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance services, including engine oil and filter replacements, tire rotations, multi-point fluid level inspections, and fluid flushes.
• Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough bumper-to-bumper vehicle inspections to detect emerging safety or mechanical concerns, providing proactive recommendations for necessary services.
• Quality & Safety Assurance: Verify that all serviced vehicles meet stringent safety standards and operate in peak road-ready condition before customer delivery.

Client Service & Advisory

• Technical Consultation: Clearly explain vehicle diagnostics, mechanical faults, and recommended repair procedures to customers in an understandable, professional manner.
• Cost & Scope Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for parts and labor, outlining the detailed scope of work prior to initiating repairs.
• Customer Support: Address client questions, clarify technical concerns, and provide honest, knowledgeable guidance throughout the service process.

Operational Support & Shop Safety

• Quality Control & Road Testing: Conduct pre- and post-repair test drives and test individual vehicle systems to verify proper function and repair integrity.
• Wheel & Suspension Alignment: Perform precision front-end, suspension, and multi-wheel alignments using shop alignment machinery.
• Shop Organization & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free personal bay and shared shop environment.
• Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to industry safety protocols, OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and company safety guidelines.
• Inventory & Asset Management: Monitor, track, and maintain accurate inventory of replacement parts, fluids, shop supplies, and diagnostic tools/equipment.
• General Shop Support: Support shop operations by assisting team members with additional automotive and facility-related duties as assigned.
