Job Summary:
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in psychiatric units is needed in Bismarck, North Dakota. The position involves providing inpatient mental health care to adolescent and adult populations within a locked unit environment. The successful candidate must bring their license on the first day of employment to comply with licensing requirements.

Job Details:

• Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
• Certifications: BLS Certification, Workplace Violence Prevention; Mandated minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, including acute/inpatient or hospital experience, with good de-escalation and strong communication skills
• Schedule: Rotating shifts; 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, at least 2 years of experience in psychiatric or inpatient settings, BLS certification, Workplace Violence Prevention certification
• Preferred Qualifications: CPI certification, adolescent experience, experience with first-time travelers, basic understanding of tele monitoring
• Additional Information: Unit features approximately 25 licensed beds, with a typical census of 9 patients, including adolescents and adults. Nurses on this unit are expected to be actively involved in patient care, including rounds and assistance with treatments. Physical restraints are rarely used, and the environment is designed for a high level of engagement by nursing staff.
• Shift & Scheduling Notes: Shifts are scheduled on a self-scheduling basis based on seniority within a unionized hospital environment. No charge nurse or house supervisor roles are routinely expected of travelers.
• Special Unit Notes: Only child/adolescent inpatient unit in the region, located on the 4th floor with emergency buttons for code blue/yellow. The unit is locked, and staff are involved directly in patient care rather than routine station sitting.
