Medical Specialist 2/Board-Certified Physician

Duties Description

Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a Medical Specialist 2/Board-Certified Physician. Physicians at RPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive and individualized treatment to children, adolescents, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

As a Medical Specialist 2 at RPC, you will provide specialized medical care and treatment services for individuals with mental illness in an inpatient hospital setting including:

• Conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and diagnosing and treating medical conditions
• Prescribing medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care
• Collaborating with the treatment team to achieve treatment goals and objectives
• Participating in discharge planning and working collaboratively with other providers and disciplines as needed to facilitate medical follow-up after discharge
• Assisting in the development of medical policies, reviewing patient records for new admissions, and ensuring all medical documentation compliance with facility, state and federal standards
• Supervising Family Nurse Practitioners

Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC), a Joint Commission accredited Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, provides inpatient and outpatient treatment and rehabilitation to adults who have been diagnosed with serious mental illness, residential and community support programs to children and adolescents diagnosed with serious emotional disturbances, and inpatient treatment to individuals who are currently involved with the Criminal Justice System. Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
