Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit. This role is focused on providing high-quality care to adult patients with complex diagnoses, including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary complications.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit.
• Monitor patients' conditions and administer medications as prescribed.
• Utilize specialty equipment such as IV pumps and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist with patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Participate in patient rounding and interdisciplinary meetings.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have a valid and active New York RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS must be completed prior to start).
• Experience with Epic EMR is preferred.
• Provide a NURSYS report for license verification.
• Must have a driver's license with an address matching demographics.
• Travel experience is required.
