Work Environment

This role primarily operates in a remote setting, allowing for flexibility while ensuring you are well-integrated into our healthcare team. The position is within a detox center focused on supportive care for youth and young adults, which means you will have the tools and resources to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, psychologists, and counselors, to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health counseling tailored for teen youth and young adults, involving individual and group therapy sessions that foster a safe and encouraging environment for expression and growth.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments using structured tools to establish personalized treatment plans that address specific mental health needs and challenges.
  • Implement evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to effectively manage and treat a variety of mental health issues.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring accurate records that support continuity of care and compliance with legal standards.
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, engaging with healthcare professionals across disciplines to create a holistic approach to each patient’s treatment, enabling a seamless experience from assessment to intervention.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in mental health counseling and therapy methodologies, actively participating in training and professional development initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position specifically focuses on the mental health needs of youth and young adults experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Your role will be crucial in providing support and guidance, enabling them to navigate their mental health journeys while ensuring they receive appropriate referrals for further care when necessary.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Active Washington State licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
  • Strong clinical skills with a demonstrated background in mental health counseling.
  • Proficient in behavioral therapy techniques and patient assessment methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations and best practices concerning medical documentation.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills with the ability to assess risk and implement safety plans swiftly.

Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with youth and young adults dealing with mental health disorders.
