Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Extended Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable, starting as night shifts in October, switching to day shifts in November Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: Ability to read and write at a level to fulfill documentation requirements Description: The RN utilizes an interpersonal process that focuses on the total individual and their role in their family, culture, and society. The RN utilizes the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN fulfills a resident advocacy role by ensuring the resident and/or their representative has adequate information to make health decisions. They coordinate total care and work with the resident to achieve or maintain their highest practicable level of function. The RN is guided by substantial specialized knowledge of nursing based on physiological and psychological sciences. They ensure that the quality of resident care meets legal and professional standards. The RN also acts as a role model to other members of the healthcare team. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the organization's mission and values. It is expected that the associate will demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The RN supports the goals and direction of the quality improvement process. The RN completes holistic, age-specific admission history, physical assessment, and nursing plan of care on all assigned residents. They analyze and incorporate clinical data to formulate an individualized plan of care. The RN identifies and documents residents at risk for nutritional and functional status. They identify and report signs and symptoms of neglect or abuse. The RN sets priorities for and reviews the daily plan of care in collaboration with the resident, family, and other healthcare disciplines. Delegation to team members is based on resident needs, continuity of care, staff, and knowledge. The RN communicates with physicians to ensure coordination of medical and nursing plans of care. They demonstrate competence in performing technical skills. The RN proactively recognizes and manages urgent/emergent resident care situations. They demonstrate knowledge and technical competence in the preparation and administration of medications and IVs. The RN documents nursing interventions, residents' responses to care, and resident outcomes. They evaluate data to revise the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the resident. The RN evaluates responses to interventions against expected norms for age and development. They identify and document resident and family learning needs and provide education. The RN coordinates or delegates discharge activities and completes or validates transfer/discharge documents. They maintain a working knowledge of regulations to ensure compliance. The RN incorporates resident needs and preferences into organized, efficient delivery of care by a team. They supervise, coach, counsel, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Lifting objects over 100 lbs with frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs is required.
