Senior Network Engineer - Cloud Networks

JOB SUMMARYMarriott’s Cloud Network Services team is a fast-paced and innovative group that builds network infrastructure to connect hotel guests, properties, and partners. We are a rapidly growing team that provides the opportunity for autonomy and growth!Reporting into the Director, Cloud Network Services, the Senior Network Engineer develops and maintains technical solutions that adhere to engineering and architectural design principles while meeting business requirements. Provides technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security; includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards. This role has a heavy emphasis on Network as Code and Infrastructure as Code.Ideal candidate would be a highly experienced cloud network engineer specializing in architecting, securing, and optimizing large-scale cloud and hybrid network infrastructures. Expert in designing resilient, high-performance connectivity across AWS, AliCloud, and multi-cloud environments, with deep knowledge of routing, load balancing, firewalls, and zero-trust principles. Skilled in automation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native networking services to drive operational efficiency and reliability. CANDIDATE PROFILERequired:Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent professional experience7+ years of network development engineering experience including: 5+ years of network development experience, DevOps related work using tools such as AAP, Terraform, Harness and Git to deliver network solutions in the public cloud5+ years of experience in a lead role leading large scale projects delivering resilient cloud-based network solutions to support our ever-increasing customer demand in the field. This includes both cloud native and vendor specific solutions.Cloud Native networking solutions such as CloudWAN, VPC, NLB/ALB, Internet Gateways, Transit Gateways, Route 53 etc.Infrastructure as Code development AAP(Ansible) and Terraform with Harness and/or GitActions.Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and secure network architectures in cloud environments across multiple cloud service providers.Configure and manage cloud networking components, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, VPNs, and Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.Implement and manage multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity solutions to ensure seamless integration and communication across different cloud platforms and on-premises data centersDeep understanding of network routing with a focus on BGP.Technical writing and delivering written document pertaining to network solutions and diagramsPreferred:Graduate degree in Computer Science or relatedCertification such as CCIE, CCNP, PCNSE, CCSA, CCSE or AWS Certified Advanced NetworkingMonitor and optimize network performance, including latency, throughput, and reliability.Conduct regular network performance tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issuesImplement network security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant security standards and policies.Solid understanding of Agile SAFeExperience in public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud or AliCloud)Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change through collaborationExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple prioritiesCORE WORK ACTIVITIESTechnology ManagementManage Cloud Networks products and solutions, including the design, engineering, and delivery of new solutions for Marriott applications across the cloud provider networksWork closely with cloud architects, developers, and security teams to design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements.Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and clients regarding network configurations and best practices.Approve and oversee projects to implement and maintain services while meeting deadlinesManage vendors to meet obligations for engineering design, network implementation, and technical support service delivery and service restorationContinuously improve operations processes, develop, and present best practices, technical concepts and technologies for innovative Cloud Networks solutionsContinuously evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance network performance and security.Document network configurations, procedures, and changes to maintain accurate and up to-date recordsTechnical LeadershipContribute input to help manage project schedules, risks, and costsTrain and/or mentor other team members and peers, as appropriateEstablish cross-team relationships across Marriott to help define services and meet service level requirementsServe as an escalation point to resolve service delivery and operational issuesIdentify opportunities to enhance the service delivery processesParticipate in capacity planning and scaling of network infrastructure to meet growing demands.IT GovernanceAct as primary point of contact for Network Compliance which includes segmentation, patching strategy and IAMFollow all defined standards and processes (e.g. SAFe, IT Governance, and Enterprise Architecture)Provide input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as neededMaintain a proper balance between business and operational riskFollow the defined project management and/or standards and processesAdditional duties as may be assignedAt Marriott International, we are dedicated to being an equal opportunity employer, welcoming all and providing access to opportunity.
