Grow with us, H2O+U.Your OpportunityAs a Structural Engineering Associate, your role is to work with general supervision and direction as a team member or lead on multiple projects under the guidance of a Principal Structural Engineer. You will perform or develop structural evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings, recommendations, and specifications for engineered systems or products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.Your Key ResponsibilitiesProfessionally represent Stantec internally and externally with colleagues, business partners, clients, and consultantsBe responsible for projects of varying complexity and sizeWork on multiple projects simultaneouslyLead and support structural engineering teams responsible for evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered systems or products for a projectLead and support structural engineering teams responsible for the preparation and revisions to documentation in various structural phases including conceptual design, detailed design, and construction support.Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, other Hydraulic Containment Facilities, Industrial and Administrative BuildingsDesign, analyze and specify primarily reinforced concrete, masonry and structural steel systems and buildingsEngage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formatsUtilize computing technologies for the development of three-dimensional models of structural systemsLead and support preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documentsPrepare structural calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer softwareContribute to the development of others through coaching, mentoring and motivating to develop professional excellenceSupport project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendorsAssist in the development of new standards, specifications and design tools for the structural groupAssist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, and drafting correspondence.Review Contractor’s shop drawing and submittals regarding structural work and investigating and developing engineered solutions to Contractor’s Requests for Information.Assist technical staff in field activities including structural observations, monitoring, and other fieldwork.Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.Your Capabilities and CredentialsConsistently demonstrate excellence in design, technical, and leadership roles.Strong knowledge of structural design codes and standards (CBC/IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360 and AISC 341), and the application of these provisionsStrong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsStrong knowledge of structural mechanics and principles, structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standardsThorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to othersAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtStrong knowledge of 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCad, and the ability to produce models or drawings or to develop clear, effective markups for a designer to incorporateExperience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISAAdvanced oral and written communication skillsAbility to develop and lead presentations for team members, clients, and contractorsUnderstanding of Microsoft Office SuiteHeavy civil construction field experience preferredActively engage in industry and professional organizationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering required; master’s degree preferredCalifornia licensed Professional Civil Engineer required; California licensed Structural Engineer strongly preferredMinimum of 8 years of relevant experienceThis position requires full-time, in-person attendance at our Sacramento C Street office location for an initial on-boarding/training period (minimum of 6 months). Transition to a hybrid working environment, if considered, is subject to Stantec’s workplace attendance policies and supervisor discretion.Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.Pay Range:• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$117,800.00 - $176,800.00 AnnuallyPay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
