Overview The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients of all ages under the direction of a physician. This position evaluates patients, administers treatments, monitors respiratory conditions, and maintains respiratory equipment. Responsibilities Assess patients’ breathing and respiratory needs. Administer oxygen, breathing treatments, and respiratory medications. Manage ventilators and other life-support equipment. Perform diagnostic tests, including pulmonary function and blood gas testing. Monitor patients and document treatment results. Respond to emergencies and assist with airway management. Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and equipment. Clean, inspect, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment. Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection-control procedures. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Qualifications Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program. Current state Respiratory Therapist license. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential. Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required. Strong communication, critical-thinking, and patient-care skills. Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and emergency shifts as scheduled. #J-18808-Ljbffr Wayne General Hospital
