Bus Driver (Part-time)

The Bus Driver transports students in a safe and efficient manner and performs all activities related to the operation of the school bus. The Bus Driver must hold and maintain a valid commercial driver's license. The individual must be a reliable person of good character who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties of the position, and comply with the rules set forth for drivers in all federal, state and local regulations including, but not limited to, the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act, N.J.S.A. 18A:39-17 through 20 (background check), and tuberculosis testing. The Bus Driver must have a minimum of three years' previous safe driving experience. The individual must have sufficient mechanical aptitude to diagnose minor problems and make appropriate repairs. The Bus Driver must hold and maintain a valid driver's license for the type of equipment to be driven, with no serious violations. The individual must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. The Bus Driver must provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. The Bus Driver must provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. The Bus Driver must provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities, with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4. The Bus Driver must pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4. The Bus Driver must meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
