Job Title: Maintenance Helper

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Gastonia, NC 

Pay: $18.00–$30.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and well-rounded Maintenance Helper to support the maintenance team with mechanical, electrical, and general building maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with electrical and mechanical systems. Experience troubleshooting PLCs is a plus. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with mechanical, electrical, and general building maintenance

• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and assist with repairs

• Assist with diagnosing equipment malfunctions and determining appropriate repairs

• Support maintenance technicians with installation, repair, and replacement of equipment and components

• Assist with electrical wiring, motors, sensors, switches, and other electrical components

• Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance as needed

• Help troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with identifying electrical or programming-related issues

• Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment safely

• Inspect machinery and equipment for potential problems or safety concerns

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines

• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment issues

• Respond to maintenance requests and production equipment breakdowns as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or building maintenance preferred

• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems

• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify potential problems

• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety

• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with industrial maintenance or manufacturing equipment

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs and automated equipment

• Electrical or mechanical training, certification, or technical degree

• Experience with motors, conveyors, sensors, pumps, hydraulics, or pneumatic systems

• Welding or fabrication experience

• HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or general building maintenance experience

• Preventative maintenance experience
