General Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to provide overall leadership and coordination across construction operations. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects or major site activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients to maintain clear communication and consistent project performance.


Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating daily construction activities, reviewing schedules and resource requirements, monitoring progress, and addressing risks, delays, and operational challenges. You will provide direction to site teams, ensure appropriate staffing and equipment are available, and verify that construction methods, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements are followed. The General Superintendent will also support project planning, productivity improvement, cost control, change management, inspections, commissioning, and final handover activities.


You will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, procedures, and site requirements. This includes leading safety meetings, identifying hazards, supporting incident investigations, and taking prompt corrective action where necessary. The role also requires accurate reporting, progress updates, documentation, and regular communication with senior leadership and project stakeholders.


Applicants should have substantial experience supervising large-scale construction projects, with a proven record of managing complex site operations and multidisciplinary teams. Strong knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, quality assurance, health and safety, and subcontractor management is essential. Excellent leadership, communication, organisation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to remain effective under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Relevant technical qualifications, trade certification, or professional credentials are desirable. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel or work across multiple project locations may also be required.
