We are looking for a Store Manager to lead our Mountain Home location. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, developing a strong team, and taking ownership of the overall performance of the store.

Our Store Manager is expected to lead from the floor—not just from the office.

Position Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and culture of the store. This includes customer service, team leadership, hiring and training, merchandising, inventory management, labor management, store conditions, food safety, loss prevention, and financial performance.

The Store Manager sets the standard for the entire store and is expected to create an environment where team members are accountable, customers feel welcome, and the store operates efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, train, and develop store team members.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard quality employees.
• Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable.
• Build schedules that provide appropriate store coverage while effectively managing labor.
• Provide regular feedback and address performance issues promptly and professionally.
• Develop team members who can take on additional responsibility as the business grows.
• Create a positive, respectful, hardworking store culture.
• Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the team when needed.

Customer Experience

• Ensure every customer receives friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service.
• Maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere throughout the store.
• Respond to customer questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Build relationships with regular customers and the local community.
• Ensure employees understand that excellent customer service is a responsibility shared by the entire team.

Store Operations

• Oversee daily opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure the store is clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for customers.
• Monitor department conditions throughout the day and address problems before they affect the customer experience.
• Ensure pricing, signage, displays, and promotions are accurate and properly executed.
• Coordinate with department leads and team members to maintain consistent operating standards.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable health, safety, and food-handling requirements.

Merchandising & Inventory

• Maintain strong in-stock conditions while controlling excess inventory.
• Monitor inventory levels, product movement, out-of-stocks, overstocks, shrink, damages, and expired products.
• Ensure products are rotated properly and expiration dates are routinely monitored.
• Maintain attractive, clean, and effective merchandising throughout the store.
• Evaluate product movement and make informed merchandising and inventory decisions.
• Ensure promotional and sale items are properly displayed, signed, and stocked.

Financial Performance

• Take ownership of store sales, gross margin, labor, shrink, inventory, and overall profitability.
• Review store performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage labor effectively based on business needs and sales volume.
• Control operational expenses without sacrificing customer service or store standards.
• Work to reduce shrink, waste, spoilage, and unnecessary inventory.
• Understand that good store management requires balancing sales, margin, inventory, labor, and customer service rather than focusing on any one measure alone.

Safety, Food Safety & Loss Prevention

• Maintain a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Ensure proper food-handling, sanitation, storage, and temperature-control procedures are followed.
• Address safety concerns immediately.
• Follow and enforce cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and unusual shrink when necessary.
• Ensure accidents and incidents are properly documented and reported.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, organized, hands-on leader who takes ownership of the store and its results.

Successful candidates should have:

• Previous retail management or supervisory experience; grocery or natural foods experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience managing schedules, labor, inventory, and day-to-day retail operations.
• The ability to coach employees and hold people accountable while maintaining a respectful workplace.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort working with sales, margin, inventory, labor, and other store performance numbers.
• The ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-moving retail environment.
• A willingness to learn about natural foods, supplements, grocery products, and the products we sell.
• Dependability and the flexibility necessary to manage a retail operation.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on retail management position. The Store Manager must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, reach, stock, and perform normal grocery-store activities.
• Regularly lift and move merchandise and assist team members with physical store tasks.
• Work in refrigerated, freezer, stockroom, and sales-floor environments as needed.
