Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant, Farmingville, Long Island, NY

Anna Parson at Robert Half is seeking an Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and helping bring structure to a fast-moving accounting department. The Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant role offers exposure to both accounts payable and general accounting responsibilities while supporting ongoing operational improvements.

As the Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant , you will:

• Manage high-volume invoice processing, payment administration, account coding, and supporting documentation review.
• Perform vendor reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate supplier account records.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Ensure accounting transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting, accounts payable, or general ledger experience; experience in distribution, manufacturing, food, beverage, or inventory-driven industries is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Sage or similar accounting platforms.
• Adaptable professional who thrives in a changing environment and works effectively with various leadership and communication styles.
