Residential Officer

Overview Location: 18104 Cumberland Road - Noblesville, Indiana, 46060. County: Hamilton. Position: Residential Officer. Department: Community Corrections. Work Schedule: Hours as assigned. Status: Full-time, Non-merit. FLSA Status: Non-exempt. Hourly Rate: $26.9208 per hour. Responsibilities Maintains interior security of the facility, including monitoring surveillance cameras, door controls, and visitors; conducts patrols and routine searches of all dormitories and searches participants for contraband. Maintains accurate accounting of all participants; ensures compliance with facility rules and regulations; monitors participant compliance with individual treatment plans; records and reports inappropriate behavior to treatment personnel and/or supervisor as required. Periodically secures and/or physically restrains violent or uncontrollable participants as situations demand. Documents/logs all activity during shift; notes pertinent information for subsequent shifts. Supervises and distributes meals; supervises work details and other activities in and around the facility; ensures proper, timely completion. Verifies participant release from facility for work, counseling, and approved requests; checks residents in/out following prescribed procedures. Supervises/monitors prescribed medication supplies and ensures participants receive proper medical attention as needed. Operates portable alcosensor and collects urine samples of participants as required. Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance, takes messages, or directs to appropriate individual or department. Responds to inquiries regarding individual participants and facility activities. Assists participants in role playing difficult situations to achieve a more positive result. May periodically testify in court or disciplinary hearings as required. Attends training seminars as required or as needed. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in criminal justice preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for the preferred degree. Possession of or ability to obtain required training certifications (e.g., first responder/CPR, response to resistance, verbal de-escalation, disease control) within time specified by department. Ability to meet department hiring and retention requirements; knowledge of and ability to apply procedures, rules, regulations, and policies; ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to use required equipment (uniforms, computers, cameras, two-way radio, breathalyzer, OC spray, baton, handcuffs) and to perform duties safely and effectively. Ability to deal with potentially violent individuals, exercise sound judgment under stress, and maintain professionalism and ethics in interactions with co-workers and the public. Strong communication skills; ability to prepare required forms and reports within deadlines; ability to work in a team environment and maintain professional relationships. Ability to work weekends and/or evenings, extend or irregular hours, and travel for training as needed; possession of a valid Indiana driver’s license and safe driving record. Awareness of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious diseases; willingness to comply with vaccination requirements as applicable by OSHA regulations. #J-18808-Ljbffr HC1 Hamilton County
