Behavior CoordinatorThis position will substantially and effectively provide assistance with monitoring the school district discipline throughout the entire day.Qualifications:Education:60 earned college credit hours minimumSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to meet established deadlines.Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.Demonstrates the ability to lead people and get results through others.Possesses superior interpersonal, human relations, and behavior management skills.Committed to educational excellence.Able to work well under pressure, problems solve, and meet deadlines.Able to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands.Able to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment.High ethical standards and impeccable personal integrity are required.Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.Ability to consistently be at work, to arrive on time, to follow instructions, to respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.Self-motivated.Strong delegation skills.Friendly, courteous and proactive in decision making.Ability to work in a highly dynamic and diverse school setting.The ability to perform basic computer skills.Language Skills:Good communication and organizational skills.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents and faculty.Able to communicate with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators in a courteous and professional manner.Ability to effectively present information in verbal or written form to school administrators, faculty, parents, children, and members of the School Board.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Student Management/Discipline:Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods to ensure the safety of all by making physical walk-throughs in hallways, restrooms, etc. on campus.Assist with supervision of all school activities.Develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.Monitor and work with the students who are excessively absent, using school district policies for attendance.Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.Aid the Counselor, who is responsible for scheduling, to ensure the master schedule is developed and maintained to meet the needs of the students.Assist in the establishment of any codes of conduct necessary and other behavioral programs deemed necessary.Instruct teachers in techniques of engaging students and disciplining of students; establishes a suitable system of referrals to the office, handling disciplinary matters in a manner in keeping with the policies of the school.Supervise the conduct of students at school during the school day.Maintain necessary records of disciplinary actions.Assist in arranging, either directly or through assignment, contacts with juvenile court and other agencies involved in carrying out attendance responsibilities and other matters of student discipline and/or requiring use of legal authorities.Work with designated staff in making necessary contacts with parents in carrying out attendance responsibilities.Prepare all disciplinary records and reports required by state law.Assist with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a safe, disciplined environment.Enforce and establish disciplinary procedures which allows due process to the rights of students; familiarizes students, staff, and parents with the disciplinary procedures; hears and acts on behavior problems; compiles annual discipline report; assists in the annual revision of the Student Handbook.Assist Campus Director with identifying and recommending necessary revisions for the student and teacher handbooks to the C.A.O.Advise parents, administrators and other staff regarding student discipline.Identify resources, models and best practices for improving student discipline and school climate.Perform other duties as assigned.Working Conditions:Equipment Used: Computer with appropriate software, printer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machineMental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; maintain emotional control under stress.Physical Demands/Environment Factors:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
