As a Sr. Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Enterprise Technology - Cloud Financial Management Group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within carious business support functions and in support of the firm's business objectives. Job responsibilitiesRegularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendorsDevelops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by othersDrives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processesServes as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focusActively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life CycleIdentifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systemsLeads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architectureRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skillsFormal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experienceAdvanced in modern front-end development with React JS, including component-driven architecture, state management, performance optimization, and building responsive, accessible user interfaces.Hands-on experience modernizing front-end applications (e.g., migrating legacy UI stacks to React, improving build/tooling and CI/CD) and automation scripting for the front end (e.g., automated UI testing, build/release automation, and regression prevention).Advanced in one or more programming language(s), specifically Java or PythonDemonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practicesAbility to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversightProficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life CycleAdvanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and SecurityIn-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systemsPractical cloud native experiencePreferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsE2E testing with Playwright (or similar)Experience with charting/data visualization libraries (e.g., D3/Highcharts/ECharts) and building analytics-style UIsExperience integrating front-end applications with backend APIs and working with large datasets (performance, pagination/virtualization, caching, error handling).
