The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at The George Washington University Hospital provides expert care for patients with complex, acute, and life-threatening medical conditions. Our team treats a wide range of diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and complex infectious diseases. Responsibilities:

• Provide evidence-based, compassionate care to critically ill medical patients.
• Manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and continuous infusions; respond to rapid patient changes.
• Partner with intensivists, specialists, respiratory therapists, and care teams to deliver comprehensive care.
• Manage complex cases including multi-organ failure, sepsis, and respiratory distress.
• Support patients and families through critical illness with empathy and education.
• Ensure precise and timely charting of patient care.
• Guide families through disease processes and recovery expectations.
• Contribute to improving ICU outcomes and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or currently enrolled
• Washington, D.C. RN license or eligibility
• 2 years full-time (or 4 years part-time) critical care experience
• BLS and ACLS required
