Compass Coffee was founded in 2014 by two Marines who, after years of drinking terrible coffee on deployment, became obsessed with the quest for the perfect cup. What began as a desire to unlock the secret to perfect coffee grew into something much more significant. It was the realization that coffee is more than just a drink. Compass Coffee has since expanded to 16 cafes in and around DC where Real Good Coffee is served and communities are formed. That includes drinking it, making it and talking about it Able to learn quickly, and are excited to learn more about coffee Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed Able to work as part of a team Able to build relationships and converse with all types of customers Energized by a fast-paced environment A problem solver, someone that looks for ways to help your team and customers Receptive to feedback Excited to continue your coffee journey at Compass—the opportunities ahead are endless Summary of Experience Basic Qualifications Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays Uphold cafe operational standards Engage with and understand our customers, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication Prepare food and drinks to standard or customized customer requests Available to perform many different tasks within the cafe during each shift Please note: This role is eligible to receive tips in addition to your base pay. Tips are not guaranteed and may vary based on factors such as seasonality and team performance.
