Registered Nurse

The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. A caring environment focused on healing and wellness is created. Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research. Client and departmental policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines are followed. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process. Critical thinking and creativity are utilized. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines. Direct patient care activities on the unit are coordinated, ensured, and provided. This includes the provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. Facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities is part of the role. Patient and family-centered education is provided. Care coordination and individualized treatment planning are employed as applicable.
