Position: Mechanical Engineer – Buildings Location: Kansas City, MO Job Id: 5664 # of Openings: 1 As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical designs in support of various Buildings Design Business Line projects. Specifically, this responsibility will include a variety of projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:Building HVAC system(s)Building plumbing system(s)Building fire protection system(s)Whole building energy modelingBuilding sustainability requirements reportingIn addition, this role will include coordination with other support disciplines, and coordination with regional offices. Assisting project managers in management of projects. Following quality assurance and quality control plans. Periodic travel to project sites will be required.Abilities and attributes needed for this position:Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principlesMentor and train technical staff.Interfacing with clients on project design, delivery, and construction.Managing project budget and schedule compliance.Overseeing the mechanical design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase.Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawingsUtilize Microsoft Excel based calculation tools for design calculationsManage multiple assignments concurrentlyBe responsible for time management and product qualityFollow Quality Assurance and Quality Control PlansBe responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET accredited university or college.Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam5-10 years of building design and construction industry experienceMust have a knowledge base of mechanical engineering principals related to building mechanical designsProven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projectsTechnically competent in building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systemsMust have strong communication skillsExperience with Autodesk RevitMust be proficient with MS Office SuitePreferred SkillsLicensed Professional EngineerExperience with AIA MasterSpecKnowledge of Federal Agencies design criteriaGrow With UsGarver offers its employees programs such as company-paid professional memberships, company support for industry licenses and continuing education opportunities that foster a progressive atmosphere.
