Job Summary
Pre Op Registered Nurse position located at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing preoperative care responsibilities primarily focused on patient assessment, preparation, and education prior to surgery. The assignment is structured for a rotating shift schedule with an emphasis on candidates experienced in surgical and outpatient procedures.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: 24 months of current surgery, preoperative or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or same-day surgery experience; Iowa state licensure or a compact/multistate license; current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience; current/recent pediatric care experience; skills specific to preoperative nursing; professional reference/check from within 24 months.
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: This position requires quick interviewing of viable candidates via phone call or text from a 405 area code. The unit has a bed size of 28 with a patient ratio of 1:3, handling adult and pediatric inpatient/outpatient cases. Common surgery types include myringotomy, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, orthopedic procedures such as total joint replacements, hysterectomy, thoracotomy, gastric bypass, ureteroscopy, AAA repair, breast reconstruction, general surgeries including cholecystectomy and appendectomy. Primarily focused on post-operative (Phase II) recovery, with some pre-op responsibilities as needed. Orientation dates are scheduled for 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, and 11/2, with earlier starts prioritized.
• Experience Requirement: Minimum of 12 months in pre/post-op, same-day surgery, or PACU within the past 15 months. No first-time travelers; at least one travel contract in pre/post-op or PACU is required.
