Job Duties Operate manual and/or powered grinding and finishing equipment to produce precision components. Perform grinding, deburring, blending, polishing, and other finishing operations according to specifications. Remove burrs, sharp edges, excess material, weld spatter, and surface imperfections from machined or fabricated components. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment. Inspect finished and in-process components to verify dimensions, tolerances, surface condition, and overall quality. Make adjustments to grinding and finishing processes as necessary to maintain quality requirements. Select appropriate wheels, abrasives, tooling, and hand tools for assigned work. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform routine care and basic maintenance of grinding equipment and tools. Identify quality issues and communicate discrepancies to supervisors or quality personnel. Complete required production and inspection documentation accurately. Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards. Work effectively with machinists, inspectors, supervisors, and other production personnel. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing or production training is beneficial. Experience Requirements Ability to work safely in manufacturing and production environments. Ability to follow written work instructions, production procedures, and quality standards. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain productivity and consistent quality. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate basic production equipment when required. Dependable attendance, teamwork, and a commitment to workplace safety. Previous experience in precision grinding, deburring, metal finishing, machining, fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders, sanders, or related equipment. Ability to use basic precision measuring instruments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Preferred Qualifications Previous manufacturing, assembly, production, warehouse, or industrial experience is preferred. Experience operating production equipment, performing quality inspections, or meeting production goals is beneficial. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement practices, or workplace safety procedures is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate reliability, adaptability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are well positioned for success as a Finishing Operator. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift. Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate around production equipment and moving machinery.
