Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparation of financial statements and a variety of individual and business tax returns. This position includes direct client contact with the ability to work independently with appropriate oversight. Staff Accountants must be self-motivated and ambitious. You must also be highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to effectively balance speed and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to get along well with coworkers are required. Our ideal candidate has at least one year of professional accounting experience in the public and/or private sectors. Primary Responsibilities & Duties * Responsible for accounting assignments under the direction of a shareholder or manager * Complete multiple simultaneous engagements of low to medium complexity with an emphasis on quality standards, timely completion, and profitability * Adhere to firm policies and processes at all times * Remain up-to-date on industry changes and changes in regulations * Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations at all times * Advise business owners and individuals regarding the tax code * Conduct tax interviews with clients * Request, collect, and compile all necessary documents * Coordinate with other members of the firm on income tax research and planning * Organize and file all federal, state, and local income tax documents * Prepare and review financial statements for clients * Process state and federal payroll taxes * Reconcile
