Job Title

Registered Nurse – CVOR (Cardiothoracic)

Location

Charleston, SC | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM | On-call expected (approximately 5–8 calls per month, including weekends; holiday call may be required)

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate complex cardiac and thoracic surgical cases including adult heart and lung transplants, Type A dissections, CABGs, valve procedures, TAVRs, and related cases
• Provide skilled intraoperative nursing care for LVAD, Impella, ascending and descending aortic, and other advanced cardiothoracic procedures
• Participate in on-call rotation, including weekend and holiday call as required by department needs
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
• Comply with radiation safety protocols; radiation badge required and will be provided
• Be prepared for potential assignment to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November)

Required Qualifications

• Active South Carolina RN license or multi-state RN license must be in hand at the start of contract
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required; first-time travelers considered with 5 or more years of experience only
• Demonstrated ability to circulate complex cardiac and thoracic cases independently
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with a broad range of cardiothoracic procedures including transplant, LVAD, and TAVR cases
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
• Prior experience in a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, or Magnet-designated hospital
