Job Details Specialty: First Assist Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff Job Summary Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team. In addition, the Registered Nurse shall meet personal accountabilities as defined in the Tenet Standards of Conduct, Service, People, Quality, Growth and Cost. Assist under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of the patients undergoing a surgical experience. The RNFA functions within the policies and guidelines established by the facility and reports directly to the Director of Perioperative Services. The RNFA is an expanded role of the registered nurse and is accountable for exemplifying leadership and professionalism in the implementation of the role. Essential Functions Assure patients’ personal needs are met; assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit; participate in the Standards of Conduct. Show commitment to co-workers; work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met; maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Maintain clear, concise documentation; deliver clear reports; complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager; follow infection control guidelines; obtain history/physical assessment per unit protocol; review medical history, physical examination, and assessment data; identify abnormal diagnostic data and report appropriately; provide information needed for discharge planning; recognize signs of cardiac or respiratory distress; effectively function in Code Blue; administer and chart medications accurately; implement or assist in education; assess patient educational needs; demonstrate intraoperative competency as an RNFA: manual dexterity, suturing, hemostasis, exposure, positioning, prepping, and draping. Assist in development and education of new staff members; attend staff meetings; complete education, training, and competencies for department‑specific skills; adapt to changes in unit and workflow. Ensure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly; utilize department resources appropriately; minimize incidental overtime. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Work Experience: Graduate of a school of nursing; Certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course; Three years scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility; Annual surgeon review. Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS or HS-BLS or RQIBLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or HS-PALS or RQIPALS) certification (Preferred); Current Professional Liability insurance; Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice; Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).
