ICU RN's Provide Highly Specialized CareICU RN's provide highly specialized care to patients who suffer from a serious injury or illness. ICU RN's need to keep watch over people whose condition may undergo rapid changes as well as care for those who are often too ill to care for themselves in even the most basic capacity. ICU RN's work in the ICU unit of a hospital, sometimes called Critical Care. ICU RN's may be asked to float to PCU.Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year EducationAssociates Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year EducationYou must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for a license as a RN.RN's can only work with an active state license.ACLS and CRRT are often required**2 years exp. required. Weekend Hours: Yes, EOW. Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS. Years of Experience: 1-2 years in acute care facility. Float Requirements: May be required to float within a 25 mile radius of the facility. Patient Ratios: 4:1 Day shift; 5:1 Night shift, EHR: Meditech
