Structural Engineer

Markon is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Facility Design organization at the Knolls Site. This position will work within a multidisciplinary project team supporting construction projects involving buildings and utility infrastructure. The Structural Engineer will help define project scope, develop technical and construction documentation, support engineering activities throughout construction, and provide oversight of architectural and engineering firms supporting facility projects.

This position requires regular onsite work at the Knolls Site and may be performed remotely for one day a week. An active DOE L clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document industrial hygiene exposure assessments as part of comprehensive assessments of site processes.
• Perform field surveillance activities to identify and evaluate potential workplace health hazards.
• Conduct workforce interviews in support of industrial hygiene assessments.
• Review established procedures and existing industrial hygiene data.
• Perform industrial hygiene sampling and interpret sampling results.
• Conduct sampling and exposure assessments for potential hazards, including:
  • Asbestos.
  • Silica.
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Welding fumes.
  • Noise dosimetry.
  • Area noise.
• Utilize and calibrate industrial hygiene sampling equipment.
• Assist with general industrial hygiene activities across the site.
• Apply professional judgment when supporting industrial hygiene exposure determinations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in support of industrial hygiene and safety activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Ability to obtain a DOE L clearance.
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience performing structural engineering tasks, including:
  • Development of contract documents.
  • Engineering calculations.
  • Cost estimating.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
• Experience with construction administration, including activities such as:
  • Submittal reviews.
  • Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Construction inspections.

Desired:

• An active DOE L clearance.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Engineering consulting experience.
• Working knowledge of:
  • New York State Building Codes.
  • AISC standards.
  • ASCE standards.

Salary Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $140,000.00 /Yr. The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
