Position Department: 02050 GCMG SHVI: Rock Hill - Cardiology Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details: M-F 1st shift Career Development Opportunities: Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III, IV Sign‑on Bonus: Eligible based on eligibility criteria Pay Range $38.20 - $57.30 Major Responsibilities Performs advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures such as M-mode, 2‑D, Doppler and Color Flow Doppler using various equipment and techniques and makes measurements required for interpretation to obtain accurate, high quality results (e.g., muscle wall thickness, chamber diameter, volume, valve areas, blood flow velocity and direction). May assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures. Identifies and defines cardiac abnormalities and adjusts the examination scope appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when necessary and correlating invasive and noninvasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function. Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history, including relevant laboratory data, to adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive diagnostic echocardiograms. Assists in performing transesophageal studies with cardiologist, calculates appropriate measurements and steriles probe. Communicates clinical findings to the appropriate staff. Records statistics and performs daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate. Acts as a resource to other staff, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures and studies to optimize patient care. In conjunction with the supervisor, implements protocols as new technology evolves, ensuring system echocardiography standards are implemented and adhered to. Works closely with the medical director to develop and ensure quality processes and protocols are adhered to; performs quarterly reviews with physicians and assists with ICAEL accreditation. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, applying principles of growth and development over the life span to assess data and interpret appropriate information. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS‑AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 6 months unless the department leader determines otherwise. Education Required Advanced training beyond high school that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography. Experience Required Typically requires 2 years of experience in cardiovascular sonography, including digital quantification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Advanced knowledge and ability to learn and apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation and techniques, and new computer techniques for capturing, displaying and analyzing echocardiographic data. Advanced knowledge and proficiency in cardiovascular sonography procedures such as transesophageal and congenital. Advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills. Intermediate computer skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. Must be able to sit for 50% of the day and stand/ walk for 20% of the day. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head. Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force. Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must be able to frequently push or pull over 100 lbs. Able to use hands and feet to operate equipment. Functional speech, vision and hearing. Will be required to wear protective clothing (e.g., lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear) as needed. Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards.
