Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized cardiovascular critical care to post-surgical and complex cardiac patients in a dedicated ICU setting. Deliver expert nursing care through advanced procedures and monitor critically ill patients with precision.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and titrate pressors, positive inotropes, and other advanced medications to stabilize cardiac patients.
• Perform and assist with open heart procedures, ecmo cannulation, and other complex interventions.
• Conduct frequent assessments of vital signs, surgical sites, and patient status to inform care decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Document care activities accurately in Meditech and ensure compliance with unit policies.
• Support patient safety and comfort through meticulous management of chest tubes, pericardial drains, and pacemakers.

Qualifications:

• Hold current ICU registered nurse licensure with at least 1 year of ICU experience.
• Possess CVICU or cardiac ICU experience, including telemetry, pressors, and advanced cardiac procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency with telemetry monitoring, pacemaker management, and chest tube care.
• Exhibit knowledge of open heart surgery, ECMO procedures, and post-operative recovery protocols.
• Maintain ACLS/BLS (or ALS/BLS) certification.
• Be able to work night shifts and adapt to floating policies between ICU and floor units.
