Project Finance Associate

A V5 firm in New York is continuing to invest in its project development & finance capability, as part of a broader Corporate & Financing group that generated well over $1bn in revenue last year, driven by sustained demand across energy, infrastructure and cross-border capital deployment.

This is an off-market search, with the group making a small number of targeted associate hires at the 2020-2024 class level, focused on individuals who want to operate within an elite practice where responsibility comes early and exposure extends meaningfully beyond a single discipline.

Within the current market, where many project finance teams remain either asset-specific or structurally separated from wider financing practices, this platform offers a more integrated model, combining project development and finance with exposure to corporate, capital markets and broader financing work through a General Practice structure.

Job Purpose

You will support a market-leading project development & finance team advising sponsors, corporates, sovereign-backed entities and financial institutions on complex infrastructure and energy transactions, while developing broader exposure to how these projects are structured, financed and delivered within a global capital framework.

What You'll Do

You will work with project sponsors, multinational corporates, sovereigns and lenders on project financings, joint ventures and capital markets transactions across energy, infrastructure and natural resources, engaging directly with how large-scale developments are brought to market.

From the outset, you will operate with a level of client exposure and transactional responsibility that often sits above your class year, working closely with partners and engaging directly with clients across corporate & finance disciplines. As transactions progress, you will draft and negotiate key documentation, coordinate with teams across financing, corporate and capital markets practices, and support deals from early-stage development through to execution.

You will gain exposure to cross-border projects involving government-backed initiatives, global operators and complex lender groups, developing an understanding of how capital is deployed, how risk is allocated and how these transactions evolve across their lifecycle, all while remaining embedded within a structure that enables you to work across disciplines rather than within a silo.

What You'll Need

• JD from an ABA accredited U.S. law school
• Admission to the NY Bar
• 2020-2024 class year (JD or equivalent)
• Experience in project finance, infrastructure, energy or related transactional work
• Exposure to development-side or financing-side mandates
• Strong drafting, structuring and analytical skills
