Clinical/Medical Laboratory Scientist - Clinical Lab - PRN

This laboratory technician receives and prepares specimens according to standard protocols, performs laboratory tests and calculations, conducts quality control, calibrates and maintains equipment, performs phlebotomy as needed, and ensures confidentiality of patient information. Job Duties Performs, develops, and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently without error, within established time frames. Analyzes and records quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting, making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Escalates appropriately when results are out of control and ensures adequate documentation of corrective action. Adheres to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintains awareness of accreditation standards. Follows safety guidelines, OIG compliance requirements, and protocol for proficiency testing of samples. Participates in performance improvement opportunities and assists in the collection and analysis of data; supports business development and cost‑reduction initiatives by managing supply and reagent inventory. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and adjusting communication style. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: None required. Certifications: Current or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist –Generalist or Specialist in the state of practice; meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel; ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist. Computer skills: Proficiency with Windows‑style applications, data entry, and retrieval of patient information; keyboard dexterity. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills; demonstrates good judgement in performing duties and conflict resolution. Good interpersonal skills. Physical & Environmental Demands Requires occasional exertion of 50–100 pounds, frequent 25–50 pounds, and constant 10–20 pounds to move objects, along with lifting, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Must work flexible schedules (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call), stand and sit for prolonged periods, and travel between facilities.
