Sr. Network Software Test Engineer (Sunnyvale, CA) This hybrid onsite position is based at the HPE Sunnyvale office. Job Overview We are looking for a senior engineer who will design, develop, automate, and execute test plans for network software enhancements and new products. The role requires close collaboration with software, hardware, and customer teams to deliver high‑quality products and provide technical leadership within the organization. Responsibilities Develop organization‑wide architectures and methodologies for software quality test plans across multiple platforms and business units. Design, develop, and automate test scripts for product feature qualification. Execute test plans, debug software programs, and provide constructive feedback to developers and hardware teams. Utilize network troubleshooting tools—including packet captures, monitoring devices, log files, and customer inputs—to resolve issues. Investigate and reproduce customer issues, formulate action plans, and coordinate resolutions. Communicate testing status, project progress, test results, and issue resolution with management and stakeholders. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to less‑experienced staff members. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field. 15+ years of experience in networking systems testing. Expertise in campus fabric switch fundamentals and common L2 protocols (xSTP, VLAN, DHCP, Dot1x, LLDP, LACP), interface configurations, and Virtual Chassis. Strong scripting skills in Python (or similar); experience with AI tools such as Copilot. Proficiency in Linux OS and related tools. Advanced network troubleshooting skills. Experience configuring and setting up Juniper switches is a plus. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment. Network certifications or equivalent training is an advantage.
