Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech & Emory School of Medicine invites applications for a Researcher in the lab of Bioelectronics, Micro/Nanofluidics, Infectious Disease, Immunology, Point‑of‑care Diagnostics, Global Health, Single Cell Analysis and Manipulation, Cell Engineering (Sarkar Lab). This appointment is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate and/or graduate student who is interested in the design and development of diagnostic devices and assays. Responsibilities Gather, compile, and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc. Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records. Operate various equipment used in research studies. Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation. Participate as directed in preparation of presentations and manuscripts. Maintain laboratory equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Experience: One to two years of job‑related experience. Preferred Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent. Prior research experience in diagnostic assay development. Skills Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: This job requires working knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications. Sarkar Lab We develop micro/nano‑technology for precision biology and medicine. We are a curiosity‑driven lab based in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University. Our research exploits microscale and nanoscale physical phenomena, devices and electronics to develop technology for precision biology and medicine. This includes developing microscale high‑sensitivity and high‑throughput bioassays that help accelerate discovery and electronic biosensing and manipulation techniques that help translate these discoveries to the clinic. We are primarily a multidisciplinary engineering lab but work closely with clinicians and biologists across applications in discovery, prevention, diagnostics, and therapy for diseases including infectious diseases and cancer. We are also broadly interested in inventing and translating technology to make high‑quality healthcare more accessible and affordable globally.
